Nancy W.Former Cancer Patient
“In March of 2007 I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. I had 10 out of 12 chemotherapy treatments. I had to stop the chemo because my head would swell so bad I felt like I was choking all the time. Also if I dropped anything, I would almost pass out when I bent to pick it up. I spent at least 3 days on the sofa in a deep sleep, the rest of the time I would be so tired I could hardly walk. I also lost my hair. During the first round of chemo I gained weight instead of losing it. My previous doctors said that diet has nothing to do with cancer; it was “ok” to eat my steak and potatoes and drink a glass of wine. Now I know this not to be true, finding the right doctor has educated me.
Dr. Garcia says that diet and a good frame of mind is important to our healing. After my 10thchemo treatment I told my doctor I had an achy feeling in my right ovary. He ordered an ultra sound and found a mass. The doctors went in and removed it. Before the ovary was taken out, a pelvic washing was done and micro cells of cancer were found in my pelvic area making this stage 4.We then looked for a surgeon to do the procedure called debaulking. This procedure puts you on the operating table for about 8 hours with a 4 day hospital stay. With this surgery they also pour a very hot chemo inside your pelvic area, it sets for 2 hours, then they clean and sew you back together. This operation has caused me the most problems, and I am still sore inside. I have lost a lot of weight and it has been close to 9 months.
I wish I would have found Dr. Garcia and his team when I was first diagnosed. I would never have had the surgeries or the chemo unless it was suggested by the doctor. After finishing Dr. Garcia’s cancer protocol and thru testing with a PET scan and blood work, no cancer has been found.
This is the place to come. The entire staff, including the front office, accounting, and the nurses, is friendly, warm and knowledgeable. The doctor’s door is always open to you if you have any questions. The most important thing to me is the quality of my life. My head is clear. I have energy and I’m back to the old Nancy, and in the process I am killing cancer cells. Now tell me, can it get any better than that? Here at Utopia in Clearwater, Florida we are like one big family. We share our stories and we laugh alot. If you need to talk about anything there’s always someone there to talk to. If you prefer quiet time we all respect each others wishes, and don’t be afraid, we are here for you. Hope to see you soon.”
